One day in August, 2022， Henry Grant, who was going to start his freshman year。Ithaca Collge, was fulilling his promise of hiking with his mother. As a hiking enthusiast .Grant had extensive experience in dealing with kinds of unexpected challnges, which also taught him to respect Squaw Peak's record. He stayed away from the edge while waiting for his mother to catch up to him. He watched other hikers enjoy the views; one hiker, around 60 and dressed in pink, was glancing over the cliff with her husband.
When Grant's mother rejoined him, the two turned to continue on their way. Suddenly, he heard a scream. as he told the Cornell Daily Sun. Then he heard something chilling.“Amy! Amy!" a man yelled loudly. Grant turned around. The woman in pink was nowhere to be seen. She'd fallen off the side of the mountain.
Several hikers immediately started looking for her. but their view was obstructed by trees. Grant told his mother,“I hate to say this, but they re probably going to find a body.”Uncertain they could help, Grant and his mother headed down the path. But when he saw hikers still searching, he decided to lend a hand.“My thought then was, 'I can do it," he said. After assuring his mother that he would be safe, he walked off the path alone, hoping he wasn't too late.
Along the trail down towards the pricky (多刺的) bushes near the spot where Amy had fallen, Grant found himself on a bumpy road, which was hardly beaten by tourists. Thick bushes and trees slowed down his movement and the mobile phone signal became unstable as well. Climbing over huge rocks and slipping down patches of loose dirt, Grant searched every possible corner with great care. However, after about an hour, there still seemed to be no useful clue.
