So I decided to go to the kitchen. Though the kitchen wasn’t very far away, it wasn’t easy to get there as the whole flat was filled with thick smoke. Coughing hard, I finally entered the kitchen. I ran to the window for some fresh air. My neighbors standing on the lawn looked very worried about my safety. “The firemen are on the way. You’ll be safe,” someone shouted to comfort me. Finally, the firemen arrived. To my surprise, I was the only one trapped in the building. So I was the only one they needed to rescue. They placed a ladder against the wall. A fireman waited lower down the ladder to help guide me; the air was so thick with smoke that it was impossible for me to see even the next stair.
